The École des Ponts ParisTech, which was founded in 1747 with the name of École Royale des Ponts et Chaussées, is a higher education institute which trains engineers to a high level of scientific, technical and general competence. In addition to civil engineering and land management, the School develops high-quality programmes and research linked to the energy transition, and offers
- high level, multidisciplinary, scientific training
- multiple opportunities to work with companies
- a human dimension which permits personalised programmes and individual follow up.
Thanks to the double degree programme (Option 1) UniTrento students can be admitted directly to the three-year course of the Grande Ecole, equivalent to the Italian master’s. They therefore have privileged access compared to their French counterparts who, after completing high school, must attend preparatory classes for two years (dedicated to deepening their understanding of maths, physics and chemistry) and must pass a very selective national entrance exam.
A double degree always holds added value. Companies and organisations look for candidates with an international outlook and an open mind, who are able to work in multicultural teams and face ever-changing global challenges: these are the engineers of the future.
Graduates of the double degree programme (Option 1 - Diplome d'ingenieur) can aspire to top roles in international companies also thanks to a one-year internship which they can undertake between the first and second year of the course (stage de césure), and to work on their thesis project of 4-6 months (PFE-Projet de fin d'études), which can be done in European or global companies (USA and Japan, for example) with which ENPC boasts strong links.
The agreement gives participants the chance to choose between two different paths depending on the qualification they wish to obtain: Diplôme d'Ingénieur (4 semester mobility) or Master’s (2 semester mobility).
Option 1, to obtain the Diplôme d'ingénieur, is open to students enrolled in the first year of the master’s programme at UniTrento in:
- Environmental and Land Management Engineering
- Civil Engineering
with a B1* level of French and English
Option 2, to obtain a master’s in "Mechanics of soils, rocks and structures in their environment" or "Transport and Mobility", is open only to students enrolled in the first year of the master’s in Civil Engineering at UniTrento with a B1 level of French and English.
* Students who are selected can send one of the accepted B1 French certificates by June: either a university certificate which states your level and the number of hours of French you have studied, or a TEF 361 or DELF B1.
Your study plan must be approved by the supervisors of both universities.
Always check the correctness of the information and any updates on the UniTrento call and on the partner's website.
For more information on the mobility programme, the courses and services available, check the Factsheet and Templates in the download section.
Applications are welcome from students who:
- have completed all of the credits of the first year of the master’s degree
- have a weighted average grade of at least 25/30
Option 1 (to obtain the Diplôme d'ingenieur)
- 2 years, if you opt for a short internship (to be done in the summer in France between the first and second year)
- 3 years, if you opt for the one-year paid internship (stage de césure, to be done between the first and the second year in France or abroad)
Option 2 (to obtain the master’s - only for Civil Engineering students)
- 1 year. If you opt for the master’s option
The UniTrento scholarship covers a maximum of 2 years.
Students who are selected will be informed of any additional funding or scholarships provided by ENPC or associated bodies.
The mobility begins in September.
All the course are taught in French.
With option 1, you will start at ENPC in the second year and will be able to attend the courses of the following departments depending on your course of study:
Génie civil et construction
Génie industriel
Génie mécanique et matériaux
Ingénierie mathématique et informatique
Sciences économiques gestion finance
Ville environnement transport
With option 2, you will attend the master’s in "Mechanics of soils, rocks and structures in their environment" or "Transport and Mobility"
Details of the mobility programme and courses of study can be found in the Factsheet and Templates in the download box.
In all cases, your study plan must be approved by the coordinators of both institutions.
Students participating in the double degree programme continue to pay their tuition fees to UniTrento, as well as a mandatory subscription fee to ENPC of approximately 1,000 euro a year ("frais de scolarité" CMCI - contribution for the international cooperation mission).
The fourth semester of mobility at ENPC is dedicated to the preparation of your thesis project, which involves a full-time internship of 4-6 months from February to September, which can be done in a company or laboratory.
The thesis, which must be presented in English or in French, will be discussed at ENPC in the presence of a representative of UniTrento.
At the end of the double degree course, students will be awarded:
- a Laurea magistrale in Engineering from UniTrento, and
- a Diplôme d'Ingénieur (Option 1) or a Master’s in "Mechanics of soils, rocks and structures in their environment" or a Master’s in "Transport and Mobility" (option 2) from ENPC.
