The University of Trento conducts periodic surveys to monitor the opinion of students on the quality of teaching and on final examinations. The anonymous surveys are conducted periodically through two questionnaires available on Esse3.
Faculties and teaching staff use the collected data to measure the quality and effectiveness of teaching, to improve student progress and revise their courses (as indicated by the guidelines of the AVA3 system - Self-assessment, evaluation and accreditation).
The survey of student opinion on the quality of teaching activities (OPIS) measures:
- the study load;
- the material available;
- the organisation of teaching;
- the interest in the subject;
- overall satisfaction;
- the adequacy of the classroom and laboratories where the activities took place.
The results of the survey (in Italian) are available in aggregate form for each course of study.
As of January 2022, the University also collects opinions on examinations for courses awarding at least 4 credits (post-examination survey), considering:
- the correspondence between the contents of the exam and the material provided;
- logistical and organisational aspects;
- level of satisfaction with how the examination was carried out.
The data are processed by the Quality Assurance Committee (PQA) and transmitted to the Evaluation Board.
