TOPSport is a dual career support programme that helps high-level athletes reconcile their sporting commitments with a university career.
Before applying to the programme, we invite you to complete the TOPSport self-assessment questionnaire to check that your sports curriculum meets the admission requirements.
On completion of the questionnaire, you will receive a score from 1 to 100. A score between 1 and 20 indicates that your curriculum is suitable for the programme, but does not guarantee admission. The questionnaire includes several selection criteria of the TOPSport commission, but other aspects will also be taken into consideration, and its decision may differ from the results of the questionnaire.
The questionnaire can be completed at any time during the year and does not constitute an application to the programme.
By completing the questionnaire, you will receive a score from 1 to 100:
- final scores between 1 and 20 indicate that your background is eligible for the CHAMPION tier;
- scores between 1 and 3 in the COMMITMENT parameter indicate that the background is eligible for the ELITE tier.
The scores obtained in the questionnaire do not guarantee admission: in fact, the questionnaire includes only some of the selection criteria used by the TOPSport Commission, so its evaluation may differ from the result of the questionnaire.
Each year, a selection is carried out to admit new athletes to the TOPSport programme. It is open to those enrolling for the first time at UniTrento or those already enrolled but not in the programme.
In the online application you will have to provide:
- your sports curriculum;
- certification confirming the sports curriculum provided from the organisation or federation you belong to, on headed paper, stamped and signed by one of the managers ((a sample of the certification can be downloaded from the online application form);
- your motivations for participating in the programme.
Documentation which is incomplete or missing one of these requirements will not be taken into consideration.
The winning candidates will then be required to confirm their place in the programme by completing a specific online procedure and finalizing their registration with the University.
Admission to the program is subject to the absence of disqualifications, sporting bans, and sanctions from the relevant sports federations, CONI, WADA, and other recognized international bodies.
Applying to the TOPSport program does not exempt candidates from participating in the selection and admission processes for study or PhD courses at the University of Trento, according to the procedures set by the respective admission guidelines.
The selection call is published annually and establishes the methods, the deadlines and procedure for application and admission to the programme.
The call for the academic year 2025/2026 will be published between April and May 2025.
