UniTrento Volley, as a project, was created in 2019 as a collaboration between the University of Trento and Trentino Volley to create a competitive volleyball team (in Italy's serie B), composed mainly of students from the University of Trento, allowing them to balance their sporting and academic commitments.

The project is based on the shared belief that engagement in sports is good for personal growth and development but also fosters soft skills that can be used in the world of work.

The team is made up of at least 80% of UniTrento students, while 20% are students of the last two years of secondary schools who are committed to enrol at UniTrento.

Every year, Trentino Volley identifies candidates from among its members or members of other teams that are willing to join Trentino Volley.

  • if the team competes in the A3 division championships or a higher division, students can arrange for some flexibility in the exam session in the event of overlaps between the dates of the exams and competitions or training
  • support of a department or centre tutor to access University services, complete administrative practices and other aspects of university life
  • psychological and motivational support, a service provided in collaboration with the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science
  • specific training on soft skills that are connected to sport activities, within the University's “Sport 4 Skills” project
  • visibility, as UniTrento testimonials, of academic and sports results through the communication tools of UniTrento and Trentino Volley
  • free UniTrento Sport card

Sporting requirements

• maintain membership with Trentino Volley
• participate in 85% of training sessions and 90% of competitions
• maintain a high level of sport.

Academic requirements

• earn at least 42 ECTS in each academic year (or 84 ECTS in 2 consecutive academic years). Students must obtain the in any case within 1 academic year beyond the normal duration of the course of study (2 for single-cycle master's degree courses)
• participate in at least two/thirds of the meetings of the "Sport4Skills" project
   

Students who leave their sporting career, do not re-enrol in UniTrento or earn less than 6 ECTS in an academic year will be excluded from the programme.
