If you are starting your journey in UniTrento or considering being part of our student community, you will study and live in Trentino, a mountain region in the north-east of Italy and crossed by the Adige Valley.
This region is among those with the best quality of life in Italy (for years it has been at the top of the ranking of Sole 24 Ore).
The University is spread over three areas: the historic centre of Trento, the hill of Trento and the town of Rovereto.
Trento
Trento, with about 120,000 inhabitants, is a city characterized by an architectural heritage that mixes Nordic and Italian influences. Places of interest include the Buonconsiglio Castle, the Duomo and its charming old town. Trento also offers numerous cultural events during the year, such as exhibitions, concerts and the Christmas market, and it is a liveable city full of traditions.
Povo and Mesiano
These are two neighbourhoods of the city of Trento, where the "hill" campus of the University is located: it only takes a few minutes by bus to reach the departments of the engineering-scientific area.
Rovereto
Rovereto, with about 40,000 inhabitants, is known for the Mart, the Museum of Modern Art, and for events of international importance such as the W.A. Mozart International Festival and the Oriente Occidente Festival. The city is also home to the famous War History Museum and the Peace Bell. Rovereto is a dynamic cultural and sports centre, with numerous music and historical festivals, including the Lagarina Jazz Festival and the autumn Ganzega.
Trentino has an alpine climate, with strong variations depending on the area. In the valleys, the climate can be mild and temperate, with hot summers and cold winters, while in the mountains the climate is colder and snowier, especially in winter.
Summer temperatures vary between 20 and 35 degrees Celsius, while winter temperatures can drop below freezing, with heavy snowfall in many locations. High in the mountains, in the Dolomites, there can be much lower temperatures and heavy snowfall during the winter months.
