Who can apply?

Applications are welcome from TUD students who:

  • have completed the first 6 semesters (180 credits) in the Bauingenieurwesen course at TUD;
  • have a B1 level of Italian;
  • have obtained the Italian bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering by submitting or discussing a thesis at UniTrento (3 ECTS).

Candidates can apply for the Master's degree in Civil engineering at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering.

The programme runs for 3 semesters

The study plan will be jointly defined by the home and host institutions and will include at least 90 ECTS to be awarded at UniTrento. TUD students can choose between two options:

  • obtain at least 105 credits from courses and develop their final project either at TUD or UniTrento;
  • obtain 180 credits, including 30 credits from an internship to be done at TUD and 30 for the final project, to apply the TIME label. 

Courses are taught in Italian. Course materials can be provided in English and exams can be taken in English. 

Students participating in the programme pay their tuition fees to TUD. Students must also purchase 3 tax stamps of 16 euro each for administrative procedures (available from post offices, banks and tobacconists).

Thesis and qualifications

The thesis shall be co-supervised by professors of both institutions and may be written and discussed either at UniTrento or at TUD. The thesis committee may include a member from the partner institution.

The thesis must be written in the language of the institution where it is discussed or in English and must include a summary in the language of each institution.

At the end of the double degree course, students obtain two separate degrees:

  • a Laurea magistrale (Master's Degree) in Ingegneria Civile from UniTrento; and
  • a Diplom-Ingenieur in Bauingenieurwesen from Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen TUD.
