To take advantage of the services, adjustments and equipment made available to individuals with disabilities, complete the Declaration of Disability, DSA and other special needs where you can also upload the certificates you were issued (e.g. certificates and diagnostic reports, including the "verbale di riconoscimento handicap" and "verbale di invalidità civile").
Your declaration will be stored in your reserved area of Esse3 in Segreteria > Dichiarazione disabilità e DSA, for the entire duration of your studies.
Before completing the application, make sure you have the certificates you want to attach in PDF format.
The certificate must be complete in every detail and valid.
Adjustments and equipment to take exams
You can ask the Inclusion service for the student community for equipment and/or adjustments to take university exams.
These are identified and agreed in a meeting with a member of the Student Community Inclusion Service and the delegate for disability support of the Department or Centre where you study.
After the meeting, the adjustments and equipment you were given will be entered in the Esse3 system so that authorized administrative staff and faculty members will be informed of your situation when you register for an exam.
As an applicant, you can obtain:
- extra time to take written exams;
- specific equipment in relation to the type of disability;
- support of a tutor to carry out the exam;
- sign language interpreter for the deaf at oral exams.
To access these measures, follow the procedure indicated by the University (how to make a request in Esse3, deadlines, etc.). You can find all information about the procedure in the dedicated online community, that you can access with your @unitn credentials.
If you do not comply with the deadlines, faculty members may not be able to meet your demands.
Adjustments and equipment for language proficiency tests at the CLA
Based on your diagnosis, you may receive specific aids or equipment to take language proficiency tests at the University Language Center (CLA), that will be defined during the meeting with the Inclusion service. You can find more information on how to apply for these adjustments on the dedicated pages on the CLA website.
The Student community inclusion service makes available an accompanying service for all those who need assistance, on foot or by public transport. The service is provided by part-time student collaborators, selected by a specific call, and can be required for:

- activities necessary for university life (e.g. grocery shopping, appointments in public offices, meetings with faculties, etc.).
The service is available from Monday to Friday, from 8.00 to 20.00. In exceptional circumstances, the service may be available at different times or on the weekend.
To request the service, send an email to the Student community inclusion service at [email protected].
Individualised tutoring
This service for students with a disability is granted at the request of the applicant following an in-depth assessment of their personal educational needs. The service is provided by student-tutors who usually are enrolled in the same course as the applicant, who have been selected to provide tutoring activities.
Based on the applicant's needs, tutors:
- write notes during lessons
- facilitate meetings with faculties
- provide support in the definition and organization of an individual study plan
- find information and study materials (e.g. books, handouts and other documents at libraries or departments)
- help with study in view of tests and exams.
To request content-specific tutoring, fill out the online form.
If the Inclusion service deems it necessary, they will contact the applicant for an online or in-person interview to better define the support they need.
Requests for content-specific tutoring are accepted:
- from the beginning of classes until 15 November for the first semester;
- from 1 March to 15 April for the second semester.
There is a maximum number of hours of tutoring per semester that can be awarded in each academic year.
To request tutoring for general support , email to [email protected], preferably by November of each academic year, so that support can be organized in a timely manner.
The Student community inclusion service commits to fulfilling all requests received, provided there are enough tutors available and with the desired skills.
In addition, the staff of the Neurodiversity service is always available for individual career support meetings to provide students with skills they need in their university life.
Language tutoring
The University Language Center (CLA) offers a language tutoring service (for English, German, Spanish, and French) to students with special needs to help them attend classes and prepare for exams.
Tutoring includes an initial meeting with a tutor of the chosen language, followed by a series of (maximum 4) meetings based on individual needs. To access the service and book meetings with the tutor, the adjustments and equipment necessary for your course of study must have already been defined through the Student community inclusion service.
For further details, consult the dedicated page on the CLA website.
