TOPSport is UniTrento's programme to support the dual careers of high-level student-athletes.

Founded in 2011 as the first example in Italy of a dual career programme, TOPSport offers athletes concrete support in reconciling their sporting and academic commitments.
The programme is open to all sports disciplines and to all UniTrento study courses (undergraduate courses, single-cycle master's degrees, master's degrees and doctorates) and incorporates European and national guidelines on dual careers.

Based on their sport profile, students join one of the following programmes:

• CHAMPION, for high and very high level athletes, or
• ELITE, for athletes of national interest recognized by CONI (the Italian National Olympic Committee) and athletes of national level.

TOPSport is a competitive entry programme, where admission is based on a special annual call.

Below is the full list of advantages available to student-athletes. Access however depends on which programme you are enrolled in (Champion or Elite):

• you can arrange for a different exam date, if you have a sporting commitment on the same day of an exam;
• you can take exams remotely, in agreement with the teaching staff;
• you can agree to catch up on mandatory classes you have missed, in agreement with the faculty;
• you can arrange for online meetings with faculty members, if they agree;
• you can receive support in the registration procedure and in the management of your student career;
• you can contact department and center tutors for questions related to your student career (for example: relations with faculties, finding information to continue your studies, access to services and more);
• you can receive support for the definition of orientation internships in view of your post-sports career path;
• you have access to international mobility opportunities with academic requirements calibrated on TOPSport academic requirements;
• you can temporarily suspend your studies for a maximum of one year in view of important sporting commitments (for example: participation in the Olympic Games);
• tutoring in specialist subject areas related to first-year courses for study support and to prepare for exams (if the department or centre provides the service);
• psychological and motivational support by the Psychological Counselling Service (UniTrento - Opera Universitaria Trento);
• access the guesthouse during the exams (max 2 nights);
• the UniTrento Sport card, which gives access to facilities and other advantages;
• visibility of sporting and academic achievements.
