Applications are welcome from students from one of the following programmes:
- Joint Master Programme in Kultursoziologie at Karls-Franzens-Universität Graz
- Master in Cultural Sociology at Masaryk University
- double-major master degree in Sociology, or the single-major master degree in Cultural Sociology at the University of Zadar;
who have a B2 level of English.
The Cultural Sociology Degree is a 2nd level international programme offered by four universities participating in a Consortium: UniTrento, Karls-Franzens-Universität Graz (Austria), Masaryk University, Brno (Czech Republic), University of Zadar (Croatia).
The candidates can apply to spend one semester in Trento studying for the Laurea Magistrale (Master's degree) in Sociology and Social Research at the Department of Sociology and Social Research.
The mobility lasts 1 or 2 semesters (2 semesters at UniTrento are recommended for a full experience).
Students must earn at least 30 credits during their semester at UniTrento. Those remaining for 2 semesters can work on their thesis and discuss it at UniTrento.
The following mobility scheme is possible:
the first 60 credits are completed at the university of origin ("entry university")
at least 30 credits at the Karls-Franzens-Universität Graz or at UniTrento (both "degree awarding institutions");
the remaining 30 ECTS credits can be made in one of the following locations:
at the home university;
at the Karls-Franzens-Universität Graz or UniTrento, also by extending the mobility for a double degree by one semester;
at Masaryk University or at the University of Zadar (Croatia), without the issuing of the local degree but with a final certificate attesting that mobility has taken place.
Courses are taught in English.
Students participating in the programme pay their tuition fees to their home university. Students must also purchase 3 tax stamps of 16 euro each for administrative procedures (available from post offices, banks and tobacconists).
The final thesis shall be co-supervised by professors of different institutions and is normally discussed where you attend the second year of the master's programme.
The thesis committee should include a member from the partner institution.
At the end of the programme, the students obtain:
- a Laurea magistrale (Master's Degree, for 120 credits) in Sociology and Social Research from UniTrento (Department of Sociology and Social Research), which is normally awarded in 2 years; and
- a Master's degree from their home university.
