This double degree programme combines the strengths of two of the highest-ranked social science departments in Europe to offer high-level research education in sociology and demography. The students will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in the area of social science and their ability to use advanced qualitative social research methods.
Applications are welcome from UniTrento students enrolled in the first year of the Master's degree in Sociology and Social Research who:
- have earned at least 45 ECTS on the master's degree including for "Quantitative methods" and "Research on public opinion" or Culture analytics ";
- have a weighted average of at least 25/30;
- have a B2 level of English.
These requirements will be evaluated during the application procedure, approximately between August and early September.

The mobility lasts 2 semesters (40 credits + 20 credits for thesis work) from September.
The study plan must be agreed with both the UniTrento and the UPF academic supervisors, and must be approved before the departure.
It may be useful to take certain second-year exams during your first year (you can arrange this with your supervisor).
The courses are taught in English and in Spanish.
Tuition fees are covered by the Department of Sociology and Social Research of UniTrento.
Between March and April of the first year of enrolment, a thesis supervisor and co-supervisor (acting as a tutor) from the two institutions will be appointed for every students participating in the programme. The thesis, in English, will be discussed in September at the institution of the supervisor.
At the end of the programme, the students obtain:
a Research Master in Sociology and Demography from UPF, and
a Laurea magistrale in Sociology and Social Research from UniTrento.
