Are you looking for accommodation in Trento or Rovereto? Here are some guidelines for finding your way around Opera Universitaria halls of residence (places are limited and availability depends on your profile) and options on the private market. If you fall into the categories that can access the residences, follow the procedures below; in all other cases you will need to search for private accommodation. You should start looking for accommodation early and always check the reliability of the listings before paying or signing a contract.

Non-EU enrolled students

Testo

You are entitled to stay in university student housing. Before your arrival, the International Mobility Office will send you a link to book accommodation in the facilities of Opera Universitaria.

EU enrolled students

Testo

You can apply for accommodation through the call launched by Opera Universitaria around June. You will need to submit a means test (ISEE - Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator).

PhD students

Testo

Accommodation in Opera Universitaria facilities is only guaranteed for the first year of your PhD, therefore until 31 October. For the following academic years you will have to find accommodation on the private market.

Private accommodation

Testo

If you're coming to UniTrento as a "free-mover", exchange student, or want to move with your family, you'll have to rent a room or apartment from a private landlord or agency. Please consider that UniTrento does not provide any assistance in finding private accommodation.

Here is some important information:

Tax ID

You need an Italian Tax ID (codice fiscale) to sign a rental contract. The International Mobility Office will send your Tax ID to you before your arrival.

Residence permit

To apply for a residence permit, you will need to provide proof of accommodation through a rental contract. Property owners have up to a month to register the contract with the Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate), so plan accordingly.

Watch out for scams

Carefully check the reliability and accuracy of the listed properties before signing contracts or sending payments. Beware of phishing and fraud: ads on Facebook and Telegram groups or similar channels should be verified carefully. Visit the apartment before signing a contract, or ask someone to do it for you.

You should be cautious if you receive a rental contract in English: rental contracts must be in Italian and must be registered with the Revenue Agency.
