Academic Senate elections

The election for the designation of:

  • 2 members of the Academic Senate belonging to the technical-scientific area;
  • 2 members of the Academic Senate belonging to the area of social sciences, humanities and law 

to the Academic Senate of the University of Trento, for the 2025-2027 term starting from 1 April 2025 are scheduled for 25 March 2025.

Passive Electorate

Eligibility for candidacy is granted to full-time first-tier professors of the University who are not in situations of incompatibility and who can guarantee a number of years of service at least equal to the duration of the mandate before their retirement date.

Candidates on a part-time contract may apply provided they submit a written commitment to switch to full-time status if elected

Those in situations of incompatibility may also apply, as long as they commit to resolving any such issues upon election.

Active Electorate

Tenured professors, tenured researchers and fixed term contract researchers as per Article 24 (3) (b) of Law 240/2010 are entitled to vote. The right to vote is not affected by leave or absences due to health or family reasons, research, study, secondment, or incompatibility.

To ensure a balanced representation of the various scientific areas within the University, voters and candidates are divided into two separate lists:

  • one for individuals affiliated with academic structures in the technical-scientific area;
  • one for individuals affiliated with academic structures in the area of social sciences, humanities and law

As stipulated by Article 50, paragraph 1 of the Statute, and pending full implementation of the new statutory provisions regarding the composition of the Academic Senate (which will take effect with the 2027-2033 rectoral mandate), academic structures are assigned to electoral lists as defined in Article 93, paragraph 3 of the previous General Regulations, specifically:

a) Technical-Scientific Area

  • Department of Physics;
  • Department of Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering;
  • Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science;
  • Department of Industrial Engineering;
  • Department of Mathematics;
  • Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences;
  • Department of Cellular, Computational, and Integrative Biology – CIBIO.

b) Area of social sciences, humanities and law

  • Department of Economics and Management;
  • Department of Humanities;
  • Department of Sociology and Social Research;
  • Faculty of Law.

The electoral rolls (for both active and passive voters) are prepared by rectoral decree at least 15 days before the start of the voting period and are available at the Electoral Office for consultation.

Voting Procedure

The candidacies for the Academic Senate elections are:

a) Technical-Scientific Area

  • Alberto Bellin – Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering
  • Alberto Montresor – Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science

b) Area of social sciences, humanities and law

The elections will take place electronically on Tuesday, 25 March 2025, from 9:00 to 17:00, using the University's electronic voting platform.

Each voter may cast one vote for a candidate from their respective area. The elections will be valid regardless of the number of voters.
