Thesis and qualifications
Testo

All students register their thesis topic at the beginning of the 3rd semester. The registration requires the formulation of a research objective together with a literature review and a justification of the relevance of the research.
Based on their research topic, students can choose their thesis supervisor from among the faculties of MUNI and UniTrento.
The thesis must be discussed at MUNI. The thesis will be evaluated and graded according to the MUNI study regulations by a thesis committee composed of MUNI academic staff, which may included representatives from UniTrento. The thesis supervisor and co-supervisor should be present at the thesis defense, either in person or virtually.
The final oral examination takes place immediately after the thesis defense and is evaluated by the same committee.
The content of the examination covers the content of the selected compulsory courses of the programme, in 2 subject areas:
1. Political Science and International Relations Theory and
2. Energy and Society.

At the end of the programme, the students obtain two separate degrees:

  • a Laurea magistrale (Master's degree) in European and International Studies from UniTrento; and
  • a Magistr/Magistra (Mgr.) in Energy Policy Studies from MUNI.
