Centrale Supélec is the result of the merger, in 2015, of two historical French institutes: the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures and the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité.
Centrale Supélec oversees the Groupe des Écoles Centrales and is a founding member: of the Université Paris-Saclay (14th place in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities 2020), of the T.I.M.E consortium and the Alliance4Tech network.
Ranked as one of the best higher education institutes in the world, it enjoys a solid international reputation and is also a strategic partner of the ESSEC Business School.
CentraleSupélec works with 200 universities in 50 countries, manages 80 double degree agreements, hosts 30% of international students from 70 nations and boasts a network of 35,000 alumni working in every continent.
In 2005, it became the first great French engineering school to export its teaching model abroad to the École Centrale Pékin (Beijing, China), the Mahindra École Centrale in Hyderabad (India), and the 'École Centrale Casablanca (Morocco).
It boasts partnerships with leading national organisations such as CNRS, CEA, INRIA, INSERM and ONERA and is present in 5 associated international laboratories (China, United States, Singapore and Canada).
Thanks to the double degree programme, UniTrento students can enrol directly at the French Grandes Ecoles, which is usually only possible after attending post-high school preparatory courses for two years (aimed at deepening knowledge of maths, physics and chemistry), and passing an entrance test.
A double degree always has additional value for students, as companies and organisations look for employees with an international outlook and multidisciplinary approach, who are able to work in multicultural teams and face ever-changing global challenges.
Graduates of CentraleSupélec are equipped to set up entrepreneurial activities and fill roles at the top of international companies and businesses.
Applications are welcome from UniTrento students enrolled in the first year of the master’s in Information Engineering and Communications Engineering, who
- have a B1 level of French and B2 level of English,
- have earned at least 40 credits of the first year of the master’s,
- have a weighted grade average of at least 25/30.
DICAM and DII students must refer to the pages of Groupe des Ecoles Centrales.
Always check the correctness of the information and any updates in the UniTrento call and on the partner's website.
The programme runs for 2 years, covered by a UniTrento scholarship.
Your study plan must be agreed by your supervisors at both UniTrento and CentraleSupélec.
Attendance of the second and third year of the Engineering course at CentraleSupélec. During the third year, students will undertake a 28-week internship, which will be the basis for their thesis project (TFE - Travail de Fin d'Études). The internship runs from mid-April to mid-October
Details of the mobility, contact information, the academic calendar, details of the grading system, and services offered to international students (Factsheet) are available in the download section. Information about the courses from which you can choose is available in the Useful Links section.
Most of the courses are taught in person and are held in French. Elective courses are held in English. The projects can be done in English. French is normally used within the Ecole and in communications with the offices.
Knowledge of French is required to obtain the Diplôme d'Ingénieur.
Students participating in the double degree programme continue to pay their tuition fees to UniTrento.
The fourth semester of the stay abroad is dedicated to preparation of the thesis project (TFE - Travail de Fin d'Études) which consists of a period of full-time work (4-6 months) which can be done in a company or laboratory.
The thesis, which must be presented in English or French, can be discussed at the CentraleSupélec or at UniTrento, depending on the type of mobility of each student, before a mixed commission.
At the end of the double degree course students will be awarded two qualifications:
- a Laurea magistrale in Engineering from UniTrento, and
- a Diplôme d'Ingénieur from CentraleSupélec.
