Why TUM?
Testo

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is one of the most prestigious polytechnics at an international level (placed 55 in the QS Top Universities Rankings) and is a member of the TU9 (an association of the 9 most prestigious German technical universities).

Is it defined as an "entrepreneurial University" thanks to its vocation for creating a favourable environment for young future entrepreneurs and for its strong links with industry. Founded in 1868, it has 40,000 students, of which 24% are international.

In addition to the good employment prospects for graduates in engineering, double degree holders can aspire to top roles in international companies with strong cross-border links: Germany is in fact Italy’s number one commercial partner and Italy is Germany’s third commercial partner. Knowledge of German is therefore a key requirement for many companies in the north of Italy, especially in South Tyrol, which is well-integrated with the economy of central Europe.

TUM offers the opportunity to do a research doctorate working with companies at an international level.

Thesis and qualifications
Testo

The thesis, in English, must be done under the supervision of the professors of both institutions and can be discussed at either UniTrento or TUM.

The final thesis grade, if discussed in Germany, will be converted into thirtieths on the basis of the grade conversion table applied to the individual courses. Details of the procedure to follow are given in the guidelines in the download section.

At the end of the double degree programme, students will be awarded two distinct qualifications:

  • a Laurea magistrale in Engineering from UniTrento, and
  • a Master of Science (M.Sc.) from TUM.
