Why CEAS
Testo

The double degree agreement offers UniTrento students the opportunity to obtain the American title of "Master of Engineering - MEng" (lasting 1 year equal to 30 US credits) in exchange for just one semester of mobility at UC (equal to 15 US credits, equivalent to 30 ECTS).

This is the added value of this course of study.

The stay abroad can also be for 2 semesters with the possibility for the student to carry out a paid internship in a laboratory or in a company with the granting of a work visa.

In both cases, although economically burdensome for the student, the path is highly professional thanks to the mandatory "capstone" (research project or internship).

In addition to the already good employment prospects of engineers, graduates with a double degree can aspire to top roles in international, Italian and US companies

1st year

At UniTrento (with completion of all credits).

UC recognizes 15 US credits from the student’s academic record in Trento to reach a total of 30 US credits.

2nd year

Option 1

1 semester at UC (fall: last week of August - mid-December, or spring: beginning of January - end of April), earning 15 US credits (12 US credits for 4 courses + 3 capstones on campus), equivalent to 30 ECTS that UniTrento recognizes on the student’s academic record.

N.B. the choice of semester for the mobility must be confirmed by UC which verifies compatibility with each student's Transcript of Records (ToR) and the courses available at UC.

Option 2

2 semesters at UC (fall and spring) with the completion of 15 US credits per semester and a paid capstone-internship in a company in the spring semester.

The salary for the internship covers and almost cancels out the cost of the fees for the second semester.

NB: the search for a host institution is the responsibility of the student and an internship in a company is therefore not guaranteed. UC can provide support with suggestions for the search and CV writing.

If the student does not find an internship, they can decide to do their internship at a UniTrento laboratory and send a report to UC.

At the end of the mobility at UC: return to UniTrento for thesis discussion in Trento.

The student can decide whether to extend the mobility at the beginning of the first semester of mobility but, for the purposes of obtaining an F1 visa, it is always advisable for the student to request a one-year mobility, as a single semester of mobility does not give the student the right to do optional practical training (which in the USA implies prior authorization to work).

Students must present a personalised study plan, which must be agreed and approved in advance by both institutions and sent to the host university before the mobility by the month of February.

UC will confirm, in the case of a single mobility semester, in which semester the student can move (fall or spring).

All courses are taught in English.

UC grants UniTrento students a scholarship of 5,000 USD/semester to support the payment of fees (15,000 USD/semester) and accommodation (5,000 USD/semester).

The UC financial contribution is extended up to an additional 10,000 USD if the stay extends to the second semester and includes completion of the capstone.

Furthermore, students are eligible for a UniTrento scholarship.
