Testo

The SuXr University Students for Refugees project, launched in academic year 2015/2016 and now in its ninth edition, offers an opportunity to gain awareness on forced migration and to understand the phenomenon, bringing students closer to the voluntary sector (learning by doing).

The project is open to all students enrolled at the University of Trento.

The project consists of a series of 8 lectures on forced migration, followed by a volunteering period with one or more associations or entities working in the field of forced migration and participating in the initiative.

The first part of each lecture is dedicated to a theoretical overview in an interdisciplinary perspective, while the second part of the lectures addresses the same issues from an experience-based perspective through the testimonies of staff of the various associations involved, who work on a daily with asylum-seekers or beneficiaries of international protection.

The associations that collaborate with the project are: Associazione di Ricerca-Azione Sociale – ARAS; Associazione provinciale per i minori – APPM; Associazione Trentina Accoglienza Stranieri - ATAS Onlus; Caritas – Diocesi di Bolzano e Bressanone; Centro Astalli Trento; Centro per la Pace, l’Ecologia e i Diritti Umani; Associazione Centro Italiano Femminile - CIF; Cooperativa K-Pax (Brescia); CSV Trentino; Gruppo Immigrazione e Salute del Trentino – GrIS; Il Gioco degli Specchi; Kaleidoscopio; Mediterranea Saving Humans; MORE Associazione; Punto d’Approdo (Rovereto); SOS Villaggio del Fanciullo; SSPG, Scuola Halbherr, I.C. Rovereto Sud (Rovereto); Gruppo Volontarius; Dalla Viva Voce, ICS - Consorzio Italiano di Solidarietà - Ufficio Rifugiati Onlus (Trieste).

Possible volunteering activities include:

  • basic computer lessons
  • accompaniment on the territory
  • conversation and Italian language teaching and language tandems
  • para-legal assistance
  • support in job orientation
  • awareness raising in schools
  • organization of cultural initiatives on migration.

Students who attend at least 6 out of 8 lectures and undertake voluntary work for at least 75 hours have the possibility to have 3 CFU credits recognized.

The credits are currently recognized as determined by each University Department and Center. Credits can be recognized as internship credits, curricular credits (free choice) or supernumerary credits.

For more information regarding the recognition of credits within your degree programme, please contact directly the Student Support Services of your Department/Center/School.

The Open badge is a digital badge that certifies skills, abilities, group membership, course participation or credit award. It contains structured information (metadata) in an open standard (v2.0) that makes it personal, portable and verifiable.
