Research Quality Assessment (VQR)
In the latest Research Quality Assessment (VQR) 2015-2019, conducted by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System (ANVUR) and whose results were announced in April 2022, the University ranks first for the quality of scientific production in its reference class (one of the four into which state universities were divided based on the number of products presented). The assessment covered publications and third mission case studies – projects that have a significant impact on society – in the five-year period 2015-2019. A total of 134 research institutions were evaluated, including 98 state and private universities.
The University of Trento participated with 14 Departments/Centers and 666 accredited professors and researchers who presented 1,808 evaluable products and 7 third mission cases. State universities were divided into four quartiles according to the number of products presented.
Our University, regarding the products of all researchers (permanent and newly hired staff), was grouped together with 14 other universities and ranked first in its quartile for the quality of products presented by both permanent staff and personnel who were hired or achieved career advancement. Regarding the 7 case studies presented, relating to the third mission, the average of evaluations received positions the University in the excellent class. The result confirms the evaluation received in the previous ANVUR report on the VQR 2011-2014 outcomes, in which the University had confirmed its position at the top among state universities.
