Why Tübingen?
Testo

Innovative. Interdisciplinary. International.

Since 1477. These are the guiding principles of the University of Tübingen, both in research and teaching. With this long tradition, UT ranks among the top universities for the humanities and social sciences, sciences and medicine and is one of 11 German universities to hold a title of excellence.

With its 8,900 students, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences stands out for its interdisciplinary approach to global challenges and has among its main aims:

  • excellence in research, also in international partnerships, and open to younger generations
  • promotion of a global awareness reached by giving students opportunities to acquire high levels of intercultural, problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
  • social engagement.

The Double Master’s programme aims to train students in emerging areas of physical research, to help them find employment in multidisciplinary areas and to prepare them to continue their studies within the doctoral programme. Students will work in the research groups of the two universities in collaboration with the teaching and research staff.

After having completed the programme, students will have acquired familiarity with some of the most advanced areas of modern physics. Depending on the study path, they will have learnt how to use sophisticated instruments or have the skills necessary to plan and implement complex theoretical and computational methods.

Graduates with a double master’s can aspire to top roles in companies with strong cross-border links: in fact Germany is Italy’s number one commercial partner and Italy is Germany’s third commercial partner. The German language is therefore a key requirement for numerous companies in the north of Italy, especially in South Tyrol, which is well-integrated with the economy of central Europe.

Duration, organisation and tuition fees
Testo

The programme runs for 2 semesters, from October, including preparation and discussion of the thesis ("Modul Master-Arbeit").

For the physics programme, it is possible to concentrate the mobility into a single semester (30 credits). In this case, preparation and discussion of the thesis must take place in Trento

The study plan must be agreed upon arrival at the destination with your academic supervisors at UniTrento and at the partner university.

The majority of the courses are taught in German although some are also taught in English.

Students who take part in the double degree programme must pay their tuition fees to UniTrento.

Tübingen requires a mandatory supplement for supplementary services (which include public transport concessions) of approximately 130 euro per semester.
