PhD Course (D.M.226/2021)
Forms of cultural exchange and textuality

COURSE SUMMARY
The PhD programme focuses on the study of literary texts and cultural phenomena from two complementary perspectives: the analysis of texts from historical, linguistic, and philological viewpoints, and the exploration of intercultural exchanges applied to linguistics, literature, philology, history and art-historical disciplines.
By combining these two lines of research, the programme aims to provide comprehensive and in-depth scientific knowledge, enabling future scholars to examine texts and cultural phenomena using a broad-spectrum methodology that is open to dialogue and representative of diverse interests and approaches.
The course in brief
OVERVIEW
The course aims to provide students with advanced competencies in literary, linguistic, and philological studies, as well as in intercultural exchange studies. The curriculum includes a series of specialised seminars conducted by both faculty members from the University and international scholars.
The programme is supported by the department's laboratories and centres, including: LaborLET (the Literary laboratory), LabSA (the Laboratory of ancient studies), the Trento Linguistics Laboratory (TreLinLab). The course's training activities also encompass related events (conferences and symposia) organised by the University of Trento and partner universities with which educational and scientific collaboration agreements have been established. The PhD programme actively promotes and supports doctoral candidates' research abroad whenever a period of study at a foreign institution aligns with the research project. It also encourages initiatives leading to co-supervised thesis agreements with international universities.
