Withdrawal from your studies is a formal act with which you decide to end your university career without completing your studies (see article 6 of the Student Regulation).
If in future you wish to re-enrol, you will have to go through the admission process for the course of study you choose and, if possible, ask for the exams taken previously to be recognised.
How to submit a withdrawal from studies
An application for withdrawal from studies can be done online and requires payment of a 16 euro stamp duty upon conclusion.
You can submit this at any time during the year.
The application for withdrawal from studies will be accepted only if your enrolment is in order.
Your enrolment is in order if:
- you meet the conditions of the call for applications from the Opera Universitaria of Trento to maintain the exemption from fees and the scholarship;
- or you have submitted an application to withdraw from studies;
- by 30 November and have paid the first instalment of university fees for the current academic year;
- by 31 March and have paid the first and second instalments (if required by your university ISEE) of university fees for the current academic year;
- after 31 March and have paid all the instalments of the university fees for the current academic year (the second and third instalments only if required by your university ISEE)
- or if you have been correctly enrolled for one or more academic years in the past and you submit your application to withdraw from studies in a year in which you have not yet renewed your enrolment.
If your enrolment is not in order, your application to withdraw from studies will be suspended and Student Support will inform you of the steps you need to take.
Case 1. If you are enrolled in the first year and within the same year you wish to transfer to another course of study at the University of Trento:
you do not need to submit the online application to withdraw from your studies.
Case 2. If you are enrolled in the first year and wish to enrol in a course of study at another university by December 31 of the same year:
if you have not paid any university fees, you do not need to submit the online application to withdraw from your studies. Send an email to Student Support with a copy of your identity document attached, indicating your wish to cancel your enrolment in order to enrol in a course at another university. The email must be sent before enrolling in the other course in order to avoid being enrolled in two university courses simultaneously.
If you have already paid the first (and possible second) instalment of your university fees, submit the online application to withdraw from your studies.
If you have applied for a scholarship from Opera Universitaria and you have paid the 16 euro stamp duty for enrolment, submit the online application to withdraw from your studies.
Send an email to Student Support with a copy of your identity document attached, indicating your wish to cancel your enrolment in one course in order to transfer to another. The email must be sent before enrolling in the other course to avoid being enrolled in two university courses simultaneously.
If you have already paid the first instalment of university fees, you do not have to pay it again.
If you are a citizen of a country outside the European Union and you withdraw from your studies, you will lose the right to a Residence Permit for Study Purposes. The University is obliged to inform the Police Headquarters of your withdrawal.
