The NRRP is Italy's response to the global Covid-19 emergency and to the obstacles that have hindered the development of the Italian economic, social and environmental system in recent decades. The NRRP is part of Next Generation EU, the EU's economic recovery programme dedicated to Member States.
The plan is worth 191.5 billion euros in European funds, with an additional 30.6 billion euros allocated at the national level, for a total of 222.1 billion euros.
All interventions outlined in the NRRP must not cause significant harm to the environment, based on the Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principle.
The NRRP comprises 6 missions:
- Mission 1 - Digitisation, innovation, competitiveness, culture and tourism
- Mission 2 - Green revolution and ecological transition
- Mission 3 - Infrastructure for sustainable mobility
- Mission 4 - Education and research
- Mission 5 - Inclusion and cohesion
- Mission 6 - Health
The University of Trento has gathered funding for missions 4 and 6 to develop research projects, and for mission 1 for initiatives related to the digitization of the public administration.
