The School of Social Sciences and Area Studies offers students the most modern knowledge on the socio-economic and political development of Russia and other nations and societies, bringing together academics from 4 Departments (Asian and African Studies, Public Administration, Political Science and Sociology) and 6 Research Centers, alternating courses with different formats and contemporary research methods and applied projects.
The Master's in Comparative Politics of Eurasia was created in response to the growing strategic importance of the Eurasian region. The programme focuses on basic conceptual training in comparative political science and global empirical training in contemporary research methods in the social sciences.
Applications are welcome from UniTrento students enrolled in the first year of the Master's Degree in European and International Studies with a B2 level of English.
The students participating in the programme must have gained at least 50 credits of the first year of the master's degree before the departure.
The following documents must also be sent to HSE St. Petersburg: photo, ID, Bachelor's degree, Transcript of Records.
The personal ID and Bachelor's degree must be officially translated into Russian.
An entry visa and valid insurance in the Russian Federation covering the costs of health care and possible repatriation for health reasons are also required. The policy must be shown on arrival before the start of classes.
N.B. The expenses to obtain the above documents shall be borne by the participants.
The requirements will be checked before departure, approximately between July and August. HSE reserves the right to request additional documentation.

The programme runs for 1 or 2 semesters (30 or 60 credits).
Students will take the classes they have agreed in the learning agreement.
All classes are taught in English.
Students participating in the double degree programme pay the tuition fees to UniTrento.
The thesis work must be carried out either at UniTrento or at HSE under the supervision of lecturers from both institutions and the thesis will be discussed at one of the two universities in a single session that will be jointly set no later than the end of September.
At the end of the programme, the students obtain:
a Master's degree in Comparative Politics of Eurasia from HSE, and
a Laurea magistrale in European and International Studies from UniTrento.
