ECIU's learning model is based on challenges and micromodules, which are designed as short and flexible activities that combine study, experimentation and international collaboration. Through these experiences you can work on concrete projects develop transversal skills while collaborating with students, faculties and partners from all over Europe. It's a different way of learning: it's hands-on, dynamic, and geared to real-world challenges.

ECIU challenges

ECIU challenges are collaborative learning experiences based on the learning by doing method of Challenge-Based Learning. Students from different universities work together in international and interdisciplinary teams to solve real-life problems proposed by companies, public entities or civil society organizations.

The goal is to develop innovative solutions to current challenges, develop practical and intercultural skills, and learn to work in a team led by professors and teamchers.

ECIU micromodules

The ECIU micromodules are short, thematic courses open to students from all the partner universities. They are used to develop new skills, delve into specific topics and strengthen interdisciplinary and professional skills, which are often necessary to solve the challenges.

How to participate

You can choose to enrol in a challenge or a micromodule, or combine them in the same learning experience.

Format

There are online, blended or short-term on-site mobility opportunities. 

Registrations

Visit the ECIU website, choose the activity you prefer and consult the "Information" section to find out about the project, deadlines, access requirements and application procedures. Sign up to the platform and register for the activity you have chosen.

Recognition of competences

At the end of the activity, you will receive digital micro-credentials. Ask your department to convert the micro-credentials into university credits (CFU).

Financial support

You can apply for financial support for physical or blended mobility opportunities. Remember to submit the application at least one month before the start. You can find all the details on the page dedicated to ECIU short mobility opportunities. Funding is not provided for fully virtual opportunities.
