M&ASURE is an innovative project of the University of Trento, designed to monitor and automate university spaces with the aim of reducing energy consumption and improving internal comfort

The project is based on MOQA, a plug & play system developed by Nicola Callegaro as part of his doctoral studies at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Professor Rossano Albatici.

The low-cost system collects data from different sensors, integrating with existing devices. MOQA monitors parameters such as air quality, thermal comfort and the energy consumption of various devices in classrooms, laboratories and offices.

The direct involvement of users is a central part of the project: through QR codes, smartwatches and tablets that display data in real time, users can provide feedback, increasing awareness about energy consumption and improving environmental conditions

The project aims to involve not only technical staff, but also students and employees, raising awareness about the impact of their actions on the spaces they live in on a daily basis.

In the first year, M&ASURE monitored four rooms at the Department of Humanities, collecting useful data to optimise internal comfort and the electricity consumption of various devices. The collected data was shared with the Estate Office to improve the management of spaces and their energy consumption. As part of the project, the monitoring will be extended to study rooms, further involving the university community.
