Sexual orientation and gender identity
Testo

Our University values diversity, including in the area of gender identity and sexual orientation.

UniTrento, as described in its programming documents, is committed to reviewing its organizational models, procedures, services and communication to ensure inclusive study and work environments where everyone is free from discrimination and prejudice

Various actions were implemented in this area:

  • support for the "alias identity" for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals,
  • participation in initiatives promoted at national level on these issues, in particular by the National Conference of the Committees for Equal Opportunities of Italian Universities,
  • support services,
  • actions in the area of the use of language.

UniTrento also promotes research and education on these issues, and encourages a cultural reflection to respect different affective, sexual and identity orientations, including at the local level.

The alias identity for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals
After the "doppio libretto" experience, the University of Trento more recently activated the "alias career" option for students, holders of research grants and doctoral scholarships, teaching, research, administrative and technical staff, including contract and temporary staff.

The "alias career" option gives the applicants a different identity, temporarily, within the University's IT system, to protect those who would like to use a name other than their given name in interactions within the university community. In this way, by recognizing the principle of gender self-determination, the University aims to contribute to the creation of a serene study and work environment, where interpersonal relationships are fair, based on mutual respect and on individual freedom.

The methods and conditions for using the alias identity, that applicants can use for the entire duration of their stay at UniTrento, are governed by the relevant Regulations.

To obtain an alias identity, submit your application and sign a confidentiality agreement with the person in charge for alias identities:
