COURSE SUMMARY
The PhD programme in Management, jointly organized by the University of Trento and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, is designed for students who are interested in current and innovative research topics in the field of business and management.
The course combines theory and practical applications in a comprehensive programme, to provide students with the skills needed to give their contribution to the academic and professional context.
The collaboration between professors and researchers of the two universities makes the programme even more open to different perspectives that will make the learning experience richer.
As part of the programme, PhD students are encouraged to spend a research period abroad, at a university or research centre, to expand their knowledge and build new scientific collaborations.
The course is jointly offered by the University of Trento and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
The course in brief
OVERVIEW
The PhD focuses on the study of the behaviours and decision-making processes of different types of organisations – start-ups, SMEs, family businesses and tourist facilities – and aims to develop skills in:
- entrepreneurship;
- innovation management;
- organisational design and management of human resources;
- strategy and knowledge management;
- accounting and accountability.
The research proposal for the 42nd cycle may focus on the cutting edge of knowledge in these areas and may include, but is not limited to, topics such as AI and digital transformation, sustainability and ESG indicators, the circular economy in regional development, and international expansion, etc.
To apply for the PhD programme, candidates must hold one of the following:
- a master's degree or a degree issued under the previous regulations;
- a second-level diploma awarded by higher-education institutions for the fine arts, music and dance (AFAM, Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale);
- an equivalent academic qualification obtained abroad (master's degree) that allows admission to PhD programmes in the system or in the country of issue and which is considered suitable by the selection committee for the sole purpose of accessing the course.
For the 42nd cycle, the following positions are available:
- 5 positions covered by three-year scholarships funded by the University of Trento;
- 3 positions covered by three-year scholarships funded by the University of Bolzano-Bozen.
