UniTrento applies two taxation systems in compliance with national and local (Autonomous Province of Trento) laws.

One taxation system is based on a means test, the ISEE indicator, and applies to Italian individuals and individuals from EU and related countries

The second taxation system applies to non-EU individuals residing outside Italy (in short "non-EU") and is based on the score you obtained at the end of the admission process for the first academic year. In subsequent years, the amount of taxes you pay is based on student performance in each academic year. This system is based on merit and not on the student's economic status, that is why the amount of fees may vary from year to year for each student.

You cannot move from one taxation system to another: if you enrol as a non-EU individual residing outside Italy you will continue to pay taxes under this system for the entire duration of the course of study, even if you move your residency to Italy.

  • citizenship of countries that do not belong to the European Union and are not resident in Italy;
  • citizenship of countries that do not belong to the European Union with a residence permit for study in Italy and without residency in Italy;

The candidates who have obtained a high school diploma in Italy and are residing in Italy fall into the category of individuals with "EU and related" citizenship and must therefore follow the instructions reserved for this category in the admission notice.
