Teaching and research staff of the University of Trento can participate in mobility experiences abroad as part of the European Erasmus+ programme.
The destinations are grouped as follows:
- Programme Countries;
- Partner Countries.
All mobility opportunities are aimed at permanent teaching and research staff.
Programme Countries
Programme Countries are the countries that fully participate in Erasmus+. They include all the European Union Member States and a number of countries associated with the programme. Exchanges to these countries offer teaching and research staff opportunities for teaching, training and academic collaboration, within a common framework of rules and funding.
European Union Member States: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden.
States outside the European Union: Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey.
Higher Education Institutions in countries not associated with the programme: Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The duration of the exchange may range from a minimum of 2 days (5 for the United Kingdom and Switzerland) up to 60 days, excluding travel. Typically, the duration of these initiatives, which must be agreed with the partner institution, is one week.
For stays of between 2 and 7 days, the participants must provide at least 8 hours of teaching. For exchanges combining teaching and training, the minimum number of teaching hours is halved. In the case of longer stays, consult the Staff Guide.
Applicants can also apply for funding for preparatory or monitoring visits to explore the opportunity for new Erasmus+ agreements or follow up on existing ones. These visits can be carried out by academic and administrative-technical staff of the international relations area, subject to the approval, respectively, of the Erasmus+ delegate or the head of staff, for a maximum duration of 7 days, including travel.
All applications submitted and approved at Department or Centre level will be funded. However, in general, only one mobility per year per faculty member will be approved. Further exchanges will be assessed by the Erasmus+ department delegate based on the availability of funds.
Interested staff may contact the International Relations Division at least one month before the desired departure date by filling in the online application.
Partner Countries
Partner Countries are non-European countries that participate in specific Erasmus+ activities, in particular in the field of international cooperation and extra-EU mobility. Exchange opportunities with these countries are available for teaching, training and collaboration with selected partner institutions.
Visit the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility-ICM page to find out which are the Partner Institutions of the project that have already signed an Erasmus+ agreement with UniTrento. Outgoing mobility opportunities for currently active projects have already been assigned during the application phase to the academic coordinators involved in such projects.
Additional mobility opportunities to institutions in partner countries, even if not included in the projects, can be financed only if Erasmus+ Key Action 131 funds are still available (as these are reserved up to 20% for non-associated partner countries). To be admitted to funding, the host institution must be listed in the international rankings and be available to enter into an inter-institutional Erasmus+ agreement limited to staff mobility from UniTrento only.
Applicants may participate in one mobility opportunity for teaching, training or a combination of the two.
The exchange may last from a minimum of 5 days up to a maximum of 60 days, excluding travel. Typically, the duration of these initiatives, which must be agreed with the partner institution, is one week. For stays longer than 30 days, the applicants must obtain the approval of their Department Council, pursuant to Article 5(3) of the University Regulations on company travel.
For stays of between 2 and 7 days, the participants must provide at least 8 hours of teaching. For longer periods, please see the table below. For exchanges combining teaching and training activities, the minimum number of teaching hours is halved.
The expenses are covered by Erasmus+ funds up to the project maximum amounts and up to 190 euros per day (180 euros for the 2023 Call), in addition to the contribution for travel expenses that is calculated based on the distance travelled. UniTrento will provide up to 1,000 euros to cover any expenses exceeding the maximum amounts of European funds.
For mobility opportunities to Partner Countries, interested staff are invited to contact the International Relations Division at least three months before the desired departure date by filling out the online application. If the contract is financed with NRRP funds, you must inform the International Relations Division by writing to [email protected].
