Pathological Anatomy
COURSE INFORMATION
The doctors in training will learn the foundations of histology and deepen their knowledge in all the disciplines of basic medical sciences. In particular, they will learn to apply and interpret anatomical, histological, cytological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural and molecular biology diagnostic methods, and will develop quality control and quantitative assessment skills.
The programme aims to train physicians who can produce diagnostic reports responsibly and autonomously, using macroscopic, histopathological and cytopathological diagnoses, including intraoperative ones, and to monitor transplanted organs.
The course also covers medical genetics, epidemiology, diagnostic imaging, occupational medicine, toxicology, forensics, ethics and bioethics, as well as courses, seminars and clinical activities.

Admission to medical specialization schools is by competitive selection.
Applicants must:
- hold a degree in Medicine and Surgery;
- be licensed to practice medicine by the start date of the teaching activities;
- pass the national admission competition, based on qualifications and an exam, which is launched every year by the Ministry of University and Research.
