PhD Course (D.M.226/2021)
Sociology and Social Research

COURSE SUMMARY
The PhD programme in Sociology and Social Research, offered by the Department of Sociology and social research, aims to train highly qualified researchers capable of conducting both applied and basic research in universities, research centres and other institutions. The programme prepares individuals to apply their knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner, drawing on the education provided by the department.
In addition to establishing a strong foundation in sociology, which includes a broad range of advanced quantitative, qualitative, and computational methods, the programme places significant emphasis on theory-driven empirical research. The students will take mandatory courses in the first year and specialised courses and seminars in the second year. Doctoral candidates are encouraged to engage with theories, approaches and methodologies from across the social sciences within a dynamic and international research environment, and are also encouraged to participate in conferences, workshops, and to spend at least three months abroad conducting research.
